Our Story
From the bazaars and back lanes of Howrah, in West Bengal, a small cooperative of weavers has been making jute homeware for generations. OWNN CRAFTS is our way of bringing that work to homes beyond our city.
The work, from start to finish.
Jute is one of the most sustainable fibers on earth — strong, biodegradable, and quick to renew. We work with raw jute fiber sourced from local farmers, then hand-spin it into yarn suitable for weaving.
Each piece is handwoven on traditional pit looms by craftspeople who learned their trade from family. Once off the loom, every doormat, table mat, and bag is finished, cleaned, and inspected by hand.
This is slow craft. It doesn't scale, and we don't want it to.

"The loom doesn't lie. You see what was done, line by line, and you can take pride in it — or you can see where you fell short, and do better tomorrow."
